    Light Up Cincinnati

When I first started taking night shots of the city I love I was lucky enough to be there on a "Light Up Cincinnati" evening.

The Roebling Spans the Ohio River

I take different views of the Roebling Bridge all the time - all seasons and times of day. This is a panorama of my favorites as you can also see Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ball Park.

    Dexter Mausoleum

The Dexter mausoleum is one of the largest crypts in Spring Grove Cemetery. It was supposed to have been build by a whiskey baron.

The Cincinnati Union Terminal was very busy in it's day as a railroad stop. Now it is used by the Children's Museum, The History Museum and an Omnimax Movie Theatre

    Convention Center Cincinnati

I shot this several years ago - you can probably tell - from Mt. Echo Park. I wanted to get the big red "C" in Cincinnati that they did in honor of the Reds making it to a championship play off game. It was a cool shot to take. I had a lot of fun as it was one of my first forays into night photography!

This old boat used to be one of the best restaurants in the Cincinnati area. After too much flooding it closed never to open again. I remember good times there.

  • Lantern Lighting

    Lantern Lighting

Last night we went to the annual Spring Grove Lantern Lighting Ceremony. I love how this event comes off. It is a time for families to gather, picnic, play games and decorate lanterns. A band is playing and at intervals they announce the names of our loved ones. As dusk settles over the cemetery the docents go around and light the candles inside the decorated lanterns. Lanterns have notes to the dead, pictures and flowers attached to them. Each lanterns is as different as the loved one, be it a husband, brother, wife, mother, child or beloved pet that has been remembered. A bagpiper begins to play, and as the first verse of Amazing Grace is heard the lanterns are floated out on the lake. It is a time of acknowledging that we all live with grief. We all have lost someone that we have loved. There is healing in the sacredness of tears and knowing that all of the crowd around you has mourned. Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4
